Use these checklists at the moments that matter most in a claim. Save or print them.

At the accident scene

  • Ensure safety first; move to a safe spot if possible.
  • Photograph all vehicles, damage, number plates, the road and surroundings.
  • Note date, time, location and weather.
  • Exchange names, phone numbers, insurer and policy details with the other party.
  • Get contact details of any witnesses.
  • For injury, theft or major damage, file an FIR at the nearest police station.
  • Inform your insurer as soon as possible — do not delay intimation.

Claim intimation

  • Call/app-register the claim and get a claim reference number.
  • Do not start repairs before the surveyor inspects (unless authorised).
  • Keep the damaged parts available for inspection.
  • Ask which documents are required and the expected timeline.

Documents to gather

  • Policy copy, claim form, and claim reference.
  • Driving licence and vehicle RC.
  • FIR copy (where applicable).
  • Repair estimate and final invoice.
  • Photographs and the surveyor’s report (request a copy).
